Cowgatehead is at the top of Cowgate where it meets Grassmarket, a canonball shot from Edinburgh Castle, and one of the most central places to stay in Edinburgh.

This modern 4th floor apartment is in what used to be the Greyfriars Hotel - you can see two of its windows, the right hand pair of the three just under the eaves in the middle of the photograph (right).

It's a short walk round the corner up Victoria Street (past Mellis's, the wonderful cheese shop) to the Royal Mile.

And as you can also see in the photograph, the Grassmarket, with its tall 17th and 18th century buildings under the looming mass of the castle, is just a hundred yards away.

Once hay was sold in the Grassmarket, now it's full of boutique shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés, and is one of Edinburgh's most lively areas.

The apartment has an open plan sitting, dining, kitchen area, with a double bedroom area separated by a screen. There's also a separate bunk bedroom and bathroom.
