Babingtons Cottage is a charming traditional Cottage brought into the 21st century and beautifully arranged by Maggie Babington, the owner. It is set in a rural location a couple of miles north east of Coldstream and within a ten minute walk to the River Tweed and the famous Tweed Mill beat. The Cottage faces south and is in an enclosed garden with an open view towards the Cheviot Hills.
For larger parties there is plenty of space as there are 3 bathrooms and two sitting rooms and a dining room seating 10. For smaller groups the Cottage is nevertheless delightful and cosy.
If you are coming to this part of Scotland to fish on the Tweed then you will like the rod and wader racks in the hall. Nearby, Andy Murray the world famous salmon fisherman "extraordinaire" gives casting and fishing lessons on adjacent Lennelhill estate.
Day trips to sandy beaches or the Farne Islands nature reserve (21 species of birds and grey seals) are easy from Babingtons Cottage, as are trips into Northumberland or visits to the Abbeys, Castles and Grand Historic Houses of the Scottish Borders. Closer to home are tranquil walks along the banks of the Tweed or in the woodlands of The Hirsel.
Accommodation:
The Garden, above right, has wonderful south facing views to the horizon 30 miles away. Access to the garden and this patio with table and chairs is directly from the french window in one of the sitting rooms.
In the Dining Room the dining table can seat ten.
There are two Sitting Rooms, one with direct access through French windows onto a patio and the garden.
All rooms have oil-fired Central Heating
The Cottage sleeps up to 8:
4 Bedrooms - 3 Twin, 1 Double
with
3 Bathrooms with showers above the baths.
There is also a Sofa Bed in the Hall.
Kitchen:
The Kitchen is fully equipped and has a Washing Machine, Dishwasher, Fridge, Freezer and Microwave Oven.
