Satchwell is a timber chalet surrounded by woodland secluded on the slopes of Reelig Estate which is above the Beauly Firth only 6 miles from Inverness. All around are a rich variety of trees, an abundance of plants, lots of wildlife (including red squirrels) and managed and natural regeneration. There are many tracks and paths to explore and also a small road which goes up over the moors that is a shortcut to Loch Ness only 6 miles away. The panoramic view, top, of the Beauly Firth to Ben Wyvis is what you see if you walk a few hundred yards up the road from Satchwell.

Reelig Glen, literally only a couple of hundred yards away, has woodland walks, some easy, some tougher, through the sheltered forested slopes of the Moniack Burn where you can see some of the tallest Douglas Firs in Britain along the Tall Trees Walk.

Daniel (a tree surgeon) and Sarah (a farrier) Fraser have redecorated and renovated Satchwell to make it a comfortable holiday home for up to four. The Frasers have lived at Reelig for 500 years. This is a family-run estate and there is a sense of timeless continuity about the place.

The cottage has car parking, an outdoor picnic table and is surrounded by wild plants. Nearby is an estate cottage but it doesn't overlook Satchwell. There is an abundance of birdsong in amongst the trees, and if you get up early enough you can see deer grazing under the trees just outside the kitchen window.
