"Just a few steps from the buzz of the Grassmarket and Old Town central Edinburgh, yet enjoying peace and quiet for a good night's sleep or some work or reflection"
Flat3/5 is on the top floor (three windows top right in the photograph above right), newly converted from what was a sail-makers' warehouse in the 1800s (you can see the lifting hoist in the roof) but which was famous more recently as the Traverse Theatre (the new Traverse Theatre is now about 10 minutes walk away).
It overlooks a private courtyard accessed through Edmonstone's Close - an archway in the bright white building in the middle of the photograph right. The photograph shows the end of the Grassmarket, a relaxed collection of pubs, restaurants, and cafés, and the beginning of West Bow and Victoria Street which curves up the the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. There are more excellent restaurants, antique shops and specialist cheese supplier Mellis on Victoria Street.
This apartment has bedroom accommodation for four with the option of a sofa bed to make six in all. Owners Charles and Lorraine Stewart have four other apartments available for self catering rental, all like this in the very centre of Edinburgh. The map at the bottom of this page locates them all.
