Aird House is on Craignish peninsular facing west and looking out to sea to the islands of Jura, Scarba, Mull and Luing and the mysterious Whirlpool of Corryvreckan. Here on the edge of the Atlantic the air is from the sea mixed with the scent of bracken and grasses, and the light is always changing so that each island or distant view seems different each time you look.
The house has a small enclosed walled garden front (ideal for children). To one side and set back discreetly in the hill behind is the home of owners Malcolm and Alison Campbell who have made Aird House available for self-catering rental and extend a warm welcome to their guests. Malcolm's family has farmed here since 1919, and he is very happy for guests to explore and enjoy the natural beauty of the peninsular.
(You might like to look at their other cottage about a hundred yards away, sleeping two: Aird Steading Cottage.)
Although this is a good base for day trips in Argyll (see map below), in fact you might find you spend your whole holiday here at Craignish walking and exploring, picnicking on the secluded pebbly beaches, fishing from the shore, watching sea otters and seals lazing in the water - it's a peaceful self-contained world on its own.
